The first 11 miles of the West Side Reservoir Road and the road leading to the Jewel Basin parking area will be closed this fall for repaving and resurfacing work.

Starting Monday, Sept. 20, the West Side road will be closed from Hungry Horse Dam to Lid Creek Campground, a distance of 11 miles.

The road will be closed until weather conditions bring an end to construction activities that include replacing existing pavement, replacing culverts and building retaining walls.

Access to areas beyond the work zone will require travel around the reservoir on the East Side Reservoir Road. The project is funded by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act under a $3 million contract awarded to Wood’s Hauling and Crushing of Sandpoint, Idaho.

In late September, the Jewel Basin Road will be closed for resurfacing.

It will remain closed until work is stopped by weather conditions.

The project is funded by the Recovery Act under a $245,000 contact awarded to Schlegel and Sons Construction Inc. of Kalispell.
