Micheal J. Ryan died Friday morning, Sept. 17, 2010, at his home in Columbia Heights following a battle with cancer. He was born Aug. 11, 1954, in Williston, N.D., to Barbara Peone and the late Patrick T. Ryan. The family later moved to East Glacier, where he was raised. He attended grade school in East Glacier, and high school in Browning. He enlisted in the U.S. Army following high school. Mike made many friends, who remained close to his heart until his passing. He and his brother Rick were inseparable as youngsters. Rick was the mastermind, Mike was the daredevil. They grew up helping at the T.P. Cafe, which was built by Pat and Barb. After serving in the Army, Micheal had many occupations. He worked for the railroad, and as a chef, and a truck driver. Mike met and later married Carol while working as a truck driver. Together they spent many a day crossing the states. Micheal loved to take pictures of all the places he would see. He loved to share them. He and his friends liked to be the first to float the river in the spring. He and Carol liked to go camping, fishing, and huckleberry picking. His favorite thing to do was spend time with family. Micheal is preceded in death by his father, Patrick T. Ryan; and his stepfather, Elmer J. Peone. He is survived by his wife, Carol; mother, Barbara Peone; brother, Rick Ryan and wife, Carolyn; sister, Joan Olson and husband, Jeff; sister, Carol Ann Ryan and fiance, Greg Anklam; niece (best uncle ever) Rhiannon Samuell and husband, Kurtis; great-nieces, Paige and Ridley; nephew, Patrick Vasquez; stepdaughters, Lavonnie McManus and husband, Jason, and grandsons, Cash and Justice, and Eva Darling and grandchildren, Stephen, Natasha, and Bradley; and mother- and father-in-law, Robert and Yvonne Quilling. At a later date his ashes will be spread at his two favorite spots, Mount Henry and St. Mary s. A beautiful life has been lived and won t be forgotten.
