TROY - Andre Zarate gave visiting Bonners Ferry, Idaho, an early lead with a goal five minutes into play and then assisted on another just before the first half ended to guide the Badgers to a 2-0 nonconference boys soccer victory over Libby's Loggers on Monday.

Libby, which lost for the first time this season, held a statistical edge in shots on goal, 9-3, and corner kicks, 8-5.

"Three of those (shots on goal) were good opportunities," Libby coach Charlie Webster said.

"Bonners Ferry is an excellent team. We made a couple of mistakes, but they capitalized."

Libby (5-1-1 overall) hosts Priest River, Idaho, on Thursday at Troy at 4 p.m. That's a nonleague contest.

Libby resumes Northern A play Saturday at home with Whitefish, 1 p.m.

"A good team effort by both teams," Webster said.

"Bonners Ferry kept possession for a greater percentage of the game. They passed the ball very well."
