Glacier boys lead golf invitational
ANACONDA - Glacier holds a six-shot advantage on second-place Missoula Hellgate after first-round play Thursday at the Anaconda-Butte Golf Invitational at the Old Works Golf Club.
Glacier, with four players in the top 10, shot 308. Hellgate is next at 314.
Flathead is currently holding down fourth place, 327, followed by Whitefish, 330.
Logan Iverson led the Wolfpack with a 72, good for second place and three shots behind leader Colin Gunstream of Missoula Hellgate.
Gunstream is the only Hellgate player in the top 10.
Glacier's Tyson Howe, 76, is sixth, while Ryan Porch and Andy Boyer both tied for 10th with 80s.
Whitefish's Reed Platke, 74, had the third best score.
Flathead had two individuals in the top 10. Michael Lavin, 78, was seventh and Max Applegate, 80, tied for 10th.
In girls play, Butte, 364, leads with Anaconda, 369, close behind in second.
Whitefish, 374, and Glacier, 388, are fourth and fifth, respectively.
Flathead, 402, is seventh.
Whitefish's Kiley McConnell is sitting in third place with an 80 and is just two shots off the pace. Mackenzie Enich of Big Sky leads with a 78.
Whitefish's Danielle McCully shot 84, which puts her sixth.
Play continues today at the Butte Country Club.
Great Falls High and C.M. Russell arrived late for Thursday's play and did not post any scores.
