Bigfork bank robbed

The Flathead County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a bank robbery that occurred in Bigfork Friday afternoon.

Sheriff Mike Meehan said the robbery at the First Interstate Bank, located on U.S. 35, was reported just after 4 p.m.

A detective on the scene Friday evening said one person was being questioned, but there had been no arrests.

Meehan would not release the total amount of money stolen nor the number of suspects.

“Right now, we are doing some active follow-up,” he said.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation investigates all bank robberies, but Meehan said no federal officials were on the scene Friday evening.

He said more details would be released Saturday.
