Homecoming triumph for Wildcats

COLUMBIA FALLS - Devyn Rocker returned the opening kickoff 96 yards for a touchdown and quarterback Austin Barth threw three touchdown passes and ran for another as Columbia Falls whipped Libby 46-10 in Northwestern A football play on Friday night.

Columbia Falls (2-3 overall and 1-0 league) led 33-7 at the half.

"We finally put it together," Columbia Falls coach Bill Coleman said.

"We put all phases together.

"Defense, we did a great job," Coleman said.

"Our defense did an incredbile job."

Columbia Falls stopped Libby on four fourth-down conversion attempts.

Offensively, there was no stopping the Wildcats. Nate Thompson had another huge game running the ball, finishing with 237 yards on 26 carries. He had 160 yards in the first half, 74 coming on a touchdown run in the opening quarter.

Thompson now has 1,090 yards on the season.

"Nate's been doing that for us all year long," Coleman said.

Kaleb Johnson had a big night receiving with three TDs and 117 yards. His touchdown receptions covered 20, 81 and 14 yards.

Columbia Falls plays at fourth-ranked Polson (4-0 and 0-0) on Friday, while Libby (2-3 and 0-1) plays at Whitefish.

RONAN - Quarterback Robbie Gauthier combined for four touchdowns and Marcus Hungerford added two more on the ground as Ronan overpowered Whitefish in a Northwestern A showdown.

Gauthier connected on TD passes to Dalton Molzhon, Chris Clary and Lucas Black and scored another on his own.

The Chiefs outscored the Bulldogs 28-13 in the second half.

Jeremy Neilson rushed for three touchdowns for Whitefish.
