William Bill W. Hewitt, 88

William Bill W. Hewitt, 88, passed away on Wednesday, Sept. 22, 2010, at his home in Bigfork. He was born on Aug. 23, 1922, in Sykeston, N.D., to Robert and Bertha (Hildebrand) Hewitt. In 1943, Bill joined the Army Air Force. After completing pilot training, he became a combat crew flight instructor. He married Gladys Siebenaler of Anaconda in 1944. Together they had four children. After the war, they settled in Butte where Bill worked as a flight instructor and served in the Air Force Reserves and the Civil Air Patrol. In 1952 he was recalled to serve in Korea. He stayed on active duty until his retirement in 1974. During that time he was stationed in France, Germany, many bases in the States, and served two tours in Vietnam. In 1978 Gladys passed away, after 34 years of marriage. In 1980 Bill married Ann Henneman whom he had met through their work with the CAP, and in 1982 they moved to Bigfork. Bill was also preceded in death by Ann s son, Andrew Henneman. He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Ann; his children, David, Gary and Jackie, Laurel and Marc Schkurman, and Lynn and Donna; and Ann s children, Robert Henneman, Vickie Pabst and Dave, and Rebecca Morris; 13 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Other survivors include many nephews and nieces. A family memorial service will be held at a later date. Johnson - Gloschat Funeral Home and Crematory is caring for Bill s family.
