Glacier boys start strong in track

MISSOULA - The boys track team at Glacier High is already looking strong early in the season.

Jacob Leininger and Shane Freese came away with two individual victories apiece and Kyle Griffith broke a school record in the triple jump at a dual meet with Missoula Big Sky on Friday.

Leininger swept the hurdles races, qualifying for state in the 110 after clocking 15.33, and Freese won the high and long jumps, qualifying in the high with a 6-foot-3 clear.

Griffith jumped 42-11 1/2, breaking Kyle Montini's mark of 42-11 set at divisionals in 2009.

Tanner Morrison qualified in the discus after winning with 154-2.

On the girls side, two-time state champion Lexy Boschee won the high jump and qualified at the same time, clearing 5-6. Boschee also won the 100 hurdles.
