POLSON - When it rains, it pours.

Polson used 25 hits, 21 walks and seven Whitefish errors to roll to a 46-0 Northwestern A softball victory on Friday.

Polson (2-1 overall, 1-0 league) scored 10 runs in the third inning and followed with 20 in the fourth inning, which featured 10 hits and 12 walks. The Pirates sent 25 batters to the plate in the fourth inning.

"I really felt bad for the Whitefish girls," Polson coach Larry Smith said.

"I know there are some talented kids on their team.

"They (Bulldogs) just got hit by a meteorite (today)," he added.

"We just kind of exploded."

Smith said the most runs Polson scored in a game is in the high 50s. That was against Browning almost 10 years ago.

"I think this (20) is the most runs we've scored in one inning, though."

Kody Woods led Polson's hit parade, going 5-for-7. Shalaina Duford went 4-for-6.

Heidi Rausch, Sally Sams and Martina Marquardt all had three hits.

Duford had five RBIs, while Woods and Rausch were next with four each.

Whitefish (0-1, 0-1) plays at Columbia Falls today, 2 p.m. Polson's next action is Tuesday at Ronan, 3 p.m.
