Glacier girls start tennis season 3-0
MISSOULA - The defending Class AA state champ Glacier girls opened the tennis season Saturday with three dual victories.
The Wolfpack dispensed with Missoula Hellgate and Helena High by 5-3 scores and blanked Missoula Big Sky 8-0.
"Very successful day for the girls," Glacier coach Josh Munro said.
"We changed our lineup to see a few things and we still came out of the day 3-0. We beat Hellgate, their first dual loss in over two years. That's a big step. All the girls played very well. That was a good sign for our first match out."
State doubles champion Cami Mathison and Veronica Walton went 3-0 on the day. They switched partners versus Helena High.
The Glacier boys downed Missoula Big 5-3 after losing to Missoula Hellgate 8-0 and to Helena High 6-2.
"A very succesfull day," Munro said for the boys. "The score may not look like it against Hellgate, but we played well against the defending state champs. We just have to close out some of those games. For a young and inexperienced lineup, the boys played very well all day."
