Glacier Knights claim opener

BOULDER - The Glacier Knights opened the Rocky Mountain Football season with an impressive win, beating the Helena Bearcats 30-0 on Saturday.

Running back Mike Kuehne had 259 totals yards and two touchdowns, and the Knights won their season-opener for the first time in the program's eight-year history.

Kuehne had 156 yards rushing and opened up the scoring with an 18-yard scoring run midway through the first quarter. The former RMFL rushing champ added another TD in the third quarter, this time on a 19-yard haul, and tallied 103 yards in punt returns.

Tyrel Anderson kicked a 15-yard field goal and had an interception on defense. Quarterback Jeff Greenwell went 11-for-17 for 139 yards and connected on a 43-yard TD to Levi Walker in the fourth quarter to cap the Knights' scoring.

On defense, Kyle Weidman had 4 1/2 tackles and 1 1/2 sacks. Kyle Holloway had 2 1/2 sacks and 3 1/2 tackles. As a team, Glacier had eight sacks.

Glacier hosts the Clark Fork Rush next Saturday at 3 p.m. at the Columbia Falls High School football field.
