The home course was no advantage for Bigfork's golfers on Thursday.

Kyle Parker, Blake Weimer and Spencer Jenko all had off days while Sara Keenan was too sick to play, but still managed to get her 18 holes in at Eagle Bend Golf Club.

"She should have been off the course by the fourth hole," Bigfork coach Steve Hullett said.

"But she wouldn't quit."

Keenan produced the top finish for Bigfork, placing third. She shot 49-46-95.

Parker led the boys, placing fourth, 41-41-82.

Weimer, 43-49-92, just missed the top 10 by one stroke.

"Blake and Kyle both struggled (with their games)," Hullett said.

Bigfork placed third in the team standings with a 386 team total.

Missoula Loyola won the boys team title with a 322 score, and had both medalists.

Tom Swanson, 34-37-71, carded a 1-under par round to wind up six shots ahead of the runner-up - Daniel Krautter of Deer Lodge, 37-40-77.

Kelsie Crippen, 42-39-81, had the best round for girls, six shots better than her runner-up sister Maggie, 41-46-87.

Only two schools fielded full teams on the girls side. Cut Bank was the team champ with a 493.

Jenko, 50-68-118, had a rough final round while Colter Trent, like Parker, was consistent in his

outing on his home course. Trent shot a pair of 64s.

A positive on the day for the Vikings was the play of Carter Sorensen. The former track athlete shot 45-49-94.

"I was really pleased with him," Hullett said.

"Basically, this is his first year of golf and his second golf tournament. He shows promise."

Hullett said Sorensen knocked off 13 strokes from his first tournament outing.

Eureka finished seventh in the boys field with a 422 score. The Lions were led by Tel Linell, 48-49-97.

The next outing for many of these schools is the Plains Invitational on Saturday. Play at the Wild Horse Golf Course begins at 9:30 a.m.
