COLUMBIA FALLS - The weather stood in the way of Columbia Falls possibly rolling to a perfect score against rival Whitefish on Thursday in a tennis dual.

Columbia Falls won three matches in singles along with No. 1 doubles for a 4-0 advantage when the outing was finally called. No. 4 singles and Nos. 2-3 doubles were not completed.

"We started a few minutes early and we were lucky to complete the matches we did," Columbia Falls coach Jerry Smalley said.

Gabrielle Stenger, No. 1 singles, and Lexie Bartkoski and Marissa Getts, No. 1 doubles, were 6-0, 6-0 winners for the Wildkats over the Bulldogs.

SINGLES - Gabrielle Stenger, CF, def. Laura Turco, 6-0, 6-0; Natalie Law, CF, def. Sloan Ellis, 6-1, 6-0; Domenika Geratova, CF, def. Caroline Carbo, 6-2, 6-3.

WHITEFISH - No varsity matches were completed because of the weather. The dual has been rescheduled for 3:30 p.m. Monday in Whitefish.

Great Falls/CMR

at Flathead/Glacier

For the second time this season, this double dual was called off because of Mother Nature.

"It was pretty much a cursed match," Flathead coach Buck Measure said.

The duals with the Great Falls schools will not be rescheduled.

Up next for Flathead and Glacier is the Flathead Invitational on Saturday at 9 a.m. Also competing are the three Missoula schools - Big Sky, Hellgate and Sentinel.

Polson 7, Ronan 0,

in boys and girls

RONAN — A pair of Polson freshman survived a back-and-forth doubles match and helped the Pirates complete a clean sweep for boys and girls.

Karly Rochin and Mollybeth Hendrix pulled out a 6-1, 6-7 (7-4), 7-6 (7-3) victory in No. 2 doubles and Polson went a perfect 14-0 on the day.

Polson head coach Bob Hislop pointed out that Ronan played the Pirates well in No. 1 and No. 2 singles and doubles on both boys and girls sides, but said the Rochin and Hendrix match at No. 2 doubles was extra special.

“That was the most exciting match of the day,” he said.

Polson plays at Whitefish next Tuesday.
