Columbia Falls downs Eureka in tennis

EUREKA - Columbia Falls swept play in singles and split with Eureka in doubles to claim a 6-2 nonconference dual win on Tuesday.

Gabrielle Stenger, Natalie Law, Domenika Geratova and Emma Covill were winners in singles.

Marissa Getts and Lexie Bartkoski, along with Tiffany Borland and Gabi Keller were doubles winners.

For Eureka, Shannon Stein and Shelby Taurman won at No. 2 doubles and Bethany Bahlmann and Meagan Duram triumphed in three sets at No. 4 doubles.

WHITEFISH - Polson cruised to an easy Northwestern A dual win over Whitefish, but the host Bulldogs did fare better against Bigfork.

Whitefish managed to pull out two victories in doubles against the Valkyries - Ryan Chauner and Haley Craven at No. 2 and Anna Carpenter and Maggie Frankino at No. 3.

"The Bigfork match was pretty tight," Whitefish coach Patrick Dryden said.

"If a couple matches had gone our way, we could have pulled it out. We had four freshman at the singles; that was fun."

Dryden said Megan Danczyk and Lindsey Viscomi had an impressive showing against Bigfork's top doubles team - Hannah Bennett and Kianna Wicklund.

"It was a quality match," he said.

"That's the best they have played all year."

Bennett and Wicklund won 6-3, 6-3.

WHITEFISH  - Whitefish rolled in its Northwestern A dual with Polson, then managed to reverse an early season loss to Bigfork by pulling out a tight dual victory.

Whitefish (3-3 overall) has now won three straight duals.

"It's always interesting to see how you stack up against the conference teams," Whitefish coach Chris Schwaderer said.

"It could have gone either way. It definitely worked out for us."

Whitefish won both matches that went three sets with the Pirates - Skylar Munzing at No. 3 singles and Casey Beiser and Logan Blades at No. 2 doubles.

"Bigfork was fun," Schwaderer said.

"They beat us earlier in the year. We had a different lineup this time going around."
