Crashes keep Highway Patrol troopers scrambling

Montana Highway Patrol troopers were still at the scene of what was reported as a fatal collision involving multiple vehicles on U.S. 2 West near mile marker 72 in Lincoln County Tuesday afternoon.

Initial reports indicated that a woman had suffered severe head and neck injuries and that a man was pinned in the wreckage at about 3:45 p.m.

The ALERT helicopter was summoned to the scene but did not transport any victims.

The Marion Fire Department also responded. Additional information was unavailable late Tuesday.

Troopers also responded to a three-vehicle crash on Montana 209 near the bridge crossing Swan River at about 2:45 p.m. Tuesday. Two women — both drivers — were injured while a man driving the third vehicle sustained no injuries.

A man suffered a broken leg after a four-wheeler accident on Wild Bill Road off of Truman Creek Road Tuesday afternoon.

The Federal Aviation Administration will look into the crash of a small plane at the Whitefish City Airport on Tuesday afternoon.

Sheriff Chuck Curry said the pilot, a man, lost control of the Carbon Cub aircraft while attempting to land at about 2:30 p.m. The plane rolled and came to rest on its top. The man was not injured.

The Flathead County Sheriff’s Office was notified when a “very aggressive” bull was seen roaming around near Elk Park Road outside Columbia Falls. The owner eventually caught it.

A home on Solberg Drive was egged twice during the holiday weekend.

A business on Grand Drive in Bigfork reported that a sign valued at about $1,000 was knocked down and destroyed by a vehicle.

A cash box was stolen from a fireworks stand on U.S. 2 East.

Two GPS devices were stolen from vehicles parked in a driveway along Stag Lane.

A man seen laying face-down in a turn lane on U.S. 2 East in Evergreen told a deputy he was taking a nap.

Assault was alleged by a man on Montana 35 in Bigfork who accused a female driver of intentionally bumping into him with her vehicle while he walked. He wasn’t injured and didn’t want to pursue charges.

A man at a motel on Montana 35 said his ex-wife’s boyfriend punched him in the face several times. He refused medical treatment.

Someone used explosives to destroy a garbage can on Commerce Street in Bigfork.

A caller on O’brien Terrace North in Bigfork said a neighbor was shooting a .22 caliber rifle in an unsafe manner. The neighbor actually was lighting off fireworks.

A 12-foot dock seen floating down the Swan River near Bigfork got hung up on a bridge on Montana 209.

Deputies were unable to find a vehicle seen driving recklessly near bicyclists on U.S. 93 west of Whitefish.

Three people were injured after a four-wheeler rolled over on Woodyad Road in Lakeside Monday at about 6:30 p.m.

One person was reportedly unconscious just after the crash.

Two pit bulls reportedly circled a woman and her dog on One Way in Columbia Falls after escaping a kennel.

Trespassing was reported by a towing company on U.S. 93 south of Whitefish after someone did damage to the company’s property and retook a vehicle that had been towed earlier in the day.

Someone on Bear Trail in Whitefish complained that neighbors were making bombs out of sparklers.

A woman reported that someone shot fireworks at her vehicle while she drove on Tamarack Lane near Columbia Falls.

Sparks from fireworks blew through a window and burned the seat of a vehicle parked on U.S. 2 East in Hungry Horse.

Three fights were reported outside a business on Hungry Horse Boulevard Monday night.
