Lois Ann Houskeeper Stacy, 69

| July 8, 2011 2:00 AM

Lois Ann Houskeeper Stacy, 69, of Kalispell passed away on Monday, July 4, 2011, surrounded by her family after a long, hard fight with pulmonary afflictions.

Born on Dec. 29, 1941, in Blackfoot, Idaho, Lois was the oldest of four children born to Cliffe H. and Louise (Collard) Houskeeper, and was raised primarily in the Olympia/Tacoma, Wash., area, where she later met her soul mate James E. “Lucky” Stacy. They were married Aug. 21, 1964, in Kalispell and have celebrated 46 entertaining and wonderful years as partners in life and love.

The two resided in Libby for 17 years before returning to Kalispell where they have remained ever since. An active and endearing mother of two, Lois was primarily a homemaker and worked in the cafeteria at Evergreen Junior High School, and later at Kalispell Regional Medical Center as a housekeeper.

Lois was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter-day Saints and the Fraternal Order of Eagles Auxiliary.

She enjoyed many hobbies but being amongst her family and friends was indeed her favorite pastime.

Lois is survived by her devoted husband, James “Lucky” Stacy; their children, Heather and Joe Mongelli of Wappingers Falls, N.Y., Bryan and Justina Stacy of Kalispell, and several “adopted” children; her grandchildren, Marisa and Logan Mongelli; her siblings, Vernett and Dan Simkins of Idaho Falls, Idaho, LaVal and Jennifer Houskeeper of Lacey, Wash., and Carol and Dennis Workman of Shelton, Wash.; brothers-in-law, Dennis and Debbie Stacy of Fairbanks, Alaska, and Gene and Tudy Stacy of Arizona City, Ariz.; sister-in-law, Carolyn Tonkinson, of Kalispell; and many nieces, nephews, and very precious friends and extended family.

Lois always opened her heart and home to all and she would say, “If you've been here more than once, you're family.” She truly meant every word!

She was preceded in death by her eternal parents, Cliffe and Louise Houskeeper; mother-in-law, Velma Miller Stacy Hutton; brothers-in-law, Robert Stacy and Tom Tonkinson; and many beloved friends and extended family members.

The family wishes to extend their humble gratitude to all of you whose care, smiles and encouragement made her burden a little lighter.

“Her spirit in peace is free to soar, and we will miss her ever more!”

A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 13, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints of Kalispell.

Donations may be made in her honor to the kind hearts at Hospice.
