Earl Lindy Thompson, 83

Earl Lindy Thompson, 83, passed away on Wednesday, July 6, 2011, at his home in Columbia Falls.

He was born March 18, 1928, in Lakeview, Mont., a beautiful historical ranching community in the Centennial Valley. His father was George William Thompson and mother, Edna Laurena Hibsman.

He was educated only until the seventh grade so he could work as a ranch hand. In Dillon he married Shirley Ann Henneberry on Dec. 24, 1948. Together they had seven children, Earl Perry Thompson (passed), Sharon Ann Mitchell, Judy Lynn Dempsey, Deborah Faun Parks, Earl William Thompson, Timothy Ambrose Thompson and Deanne Rosemarie Tyler.

Throughout his life he worked in service stations, as well as Rollenson’s John Deere in Dillon. The last 20 years he resided in Columbia Falls. After retirement he enjoyed woodworking, hunting and fishing.

Throughout his life he enjoyed 15 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Shirley; children, Sharon and Howard Mitchell, Judy and Jeff Dempsey, Debbie and Tom Parks, Earl Thompson, Tim and Traci Thompson, and Deanne and Allen Tyler; and many more family and friends.

He lived life, loving and keeping the Lord in his heart.

“He is welcomed with open arms in heaven by father, mother, siblings, and grandson James.”

Funeral services for Earl Lindy Thompson will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 12, at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to noon Tuesday at Columbia Mortuary.
