The Montana Department of Transportation is seeking public comments on a proposal to improve safety along Montana 35 east of Polson.

The proposed project area extends from mile marker 3.3 to 3.6 and is located at the curve at the Fulkerson Lane intersection.

The work would include installing a six-foot wide paved shoulder on the outside of the curve and a four-foot wide paved shoulder on the inside of the curve, accompanied by slope flattening on both sides. A street light would also be added at the intersection with Fulkerson Lane.

The purpose of the project is to improve safety because of an identified crash cluster at the project location. The project is tentatively scheduled for construction in 2014, depending on completion of all project development activities and availability of funding.

No new right-of-way is anticipated for this project. Some utility relocations may be necessary to accommodate these improvements.

For more information, contact Missoula District Administrator Doug Moeller at 406-523-5802 or District Preconstruction Engineer Shane Stack at 406-523-5830. Written comments should be submitted to the Montana Department of Transportation Missoula office at PO Box 7039, Missoula, MT, 59807-7039, or online at:
