| July 16, 2011 2:00 AM

Clays for Kids takes place Saturday, July 23, at Big Sky Sporting Clays, 3500 Irvine Flats Road, Polson.

The event kicks off at 9:30 a.m. with shooter registration and safety orientation. A silent auction, raffles and giving pool will open at 10 a.m., which is also when new shooter training beings.

The competition begins at 10:15 a.m. When it wraps up at 2:15 p.m., a shooting exhibition by Scott Robertson, whom Clint Walker called one of the top exhibition shooters in the world, will start.

Food vendors will open for business at noon. Local nonprofit organizations will set up booths to let people know about different ways to get involved and where the community’s needs lie.

“We’re not trying to compete with them. We’re trying to give them a platform,” Walker said.

An Annie Oakley shoot and other fun shoots open at 3:15 p.m. The live auction begins at 4 p.m.

The event will wrap up with an awards ceremony at 4:30 p.m.
