Gayle C. Massie, 67

Gayle C. Massie, 67, passed away on Wednesday, July 13, 2011, at her home in Kalispell.

Gayle was born on Oct. 30, 1943, in Sturgis, S.D., to Roland and John Ann (King) Veren.

On Nov. 2, 1962, Gayle was married to Wally Massie in Spearfish, S.D. They lived in Vancouver, Wash., and Kalispell. To this marriage was born eight children; five sons, Troy Massie and wife Helen of Moorcroft, Wyo., Trent Massie of Yakima, Wash., Collin Massie and wife Gena of Battle Ground, Wash., Layne Massie and wife Lynn of Kalispell, and Kendall Massie and his wife Christina of Amboy, Wash., and three daughters, Jill and husband Kelly Knaff, Jann and husband Kurt Tonjum, and Lynn and husband Roger Nasset, all of Kalispell.

Gayle was a member of the Old Apostolic Church and leaves behind many Christian friends. Gayle’s life was centered around her children, grandchildren and Christian friends. She was known as a caretaker and was always there to help those in need. She will be missed by all who knew her and loved her.

Gayle was preceded in death by her father, Roland; sister, Diane O’Neil; and a grandchild, Jesse Nasset.

Besides her children, she is survived by her husband, Wally Massie, of Kalispell; mother, John Ann Veren; sister, Joyce Desjarlas; brother, Wade Veren; 50 grandchildren, and 27 great-grandchildren, as well as many brothers and sisters-in-law and nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. today, July 16, at the Old Apostolic Lutheran Church in Lakeside.

 Burial will follow at Bethel Cemetery in Somers. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.buffalohillfh.com
