State Am golf in full swing

The 94th edition of Montana State Amateur golf for men and women is under way at two different locations.

The men's action started Wednesday at Canyon River Golf Club in Missoula with Nathan Bailey of Laurel, Brady Kirkeby of Helena and Drew Ferguson of Belgrade all carding 67s to share the lead after 18 holes.

Whitefish's Mark Mance is one shot back.

Jason Winkler and Ryan Porch, both of Kalispell carded 70s. They are in a five-way tie for ninth place.

Par on the Canyon River 6,966-yard layout is 72.

Whitefish's Shawn Tucker shot 74, which puts him in an eight-way tie for 27th place.

Bigfork's Grant Raffel, Kalispell's Logan Iverson and Libby's Jim Mee all shot 75.

Missoula's Maggie Crippen shot 77 on the second day of play at the women's tournament at Bill Roberts Golf Course in Helena. She opened with a 74 on Tuesday and tops the leader board with a 151.

Kyla Clancy of Park City, 77-75-152, is second.

Rounding out the top five are Katie Michunovich of Laurel, 76-78-154, Emily Slayton of Helena, 77-77-154, and Natalie Beard of Great Falls, 77-79-156, and Katy Peterson of Glendive, 74-82-156.

Kiley McConnell and Chelsea Ray, both of Whitefish, are in the first flight.

McConnell, 83-84-167, is five shots behind the flight leader while Ray, 85-83-168, is six back.

Kalispell's Sara Cunningham, 87-99-186, is in the third flight.

In women's senior play, Karen Jacobson of Whitefish, 76-93-169, is holding down second place. She is three shots off the pace.

Bobbie Lacklen of Libby, 88-85-173, is tied for third. Jeanette Cheney of Columbia Falls, 81-94-175, is fifth.

Par at Bill Roberts is 72.
