Black bear knocks, but doesn't get in

The Flathead County Sheriff’s Office got a report Wednesday morning regarding a black bear that was trying to gain entry to a home on La Brant Road. At one point the bear was “pounding” on a glass door, but it eventually left the area. Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks is responding to the incident.

A woman reported that two large dogs entered her property on Columbia Mountain Lane and killed her chickens.

A woman calling from Sunrise Road reported that she was suspicious of people who were selling alarm systems door to door in her neighborhood, so she checked the company out on the Internet and found that it is facing a class-action lawsuit for fraud.

A woman reported that there is an unwanted tent and fire ring along with squatters on her property off Mountain Gateway Drive near Lake Blaine Road.

There was a report of a fire being set by someone on the deck of a home on O’Brien Terrace in the Bigfork area.

The owner of a storage business on Egan Slough Road reported that someone had removed locks off of several storage units.

A woman showed up at the Sheriff’s Office lobby to report that someone had stolen $122 from her wallet while it was in a dressing room.

A woman calling from Conrad Drive said that someone stole her purse while it was in her boyfriend’s car sometime last week.

A woman reported that there was an unruly 5-year-old boy yelling and throwing rocks and wood at her on Twin Acres Drive. She was fearful of a confrontation as the boy’s parents were approaching her, but it turned out that the boy has autism and he was calmed down.

A man calling from Libby reported that there was a prowler around his home on Paradise Loop while it was occupied by his wife, son and mother-in-law. The person at one point knocked on the door of the home and then apparently left, but an extra patrol was assigned to the area.

A man calling from a Zimmerman Road address said men in dark clothing had tried to gain entry to his home through the back door before leaving. A deputy soon made contact with two individuals in the nearby Woodland Park area but there were no arrests.

After receiving a report of a woman lying in the middle of the road on old U.S. 2 East in Martin City just after 12:15 a.m. Thursday, a deputy ended up arresting the woman and taking her to the county jail.

A person calling from the vicinity of a gallery on Electric Avenue in Bigfork reported that someone was outside the gallery breaking flower pots, and that a birdbath had been thrown at a door, but it remained secure.

A woman calling from Mountain View Drive reported that her husband had caught people trying to break into his work truck, but they ran away.

A man called Kalispell Police Wednesday afternoon reporting that he witnessed a white male steal his bicycle. He then pursued the thief but it was unclear if he ever caught him.

There was a report of a woman stealing about $100 in cosmetics from a store on West Idaho.

Thursday, a man who works as a mason reported that he went to retrieve belongings from his old residence on Three Mile Drive and found that bricks he was using for a current job had been stolen.

There was a report of items and cash stolen from a residence on Indian Trail Road.

A teenage girl was cited for shoplifting from a store on Hutton Ranch Road.

A man reported that someone stole his wallet from a vehicle while he was inside an eatery on South Main Street.
