Clinton 'Clint' Holmquist, 63

Clinton “Clint” Holmquist, 63, passed away on Tuesday, July 26, 2011, at St. Mary-Corwin Medical Center in Pueblo, Colo.

He was born on July 31, 1947, in Kalispell, to parents Ernest and Mary Holmquist.

Clint moved to Fowler, Colo., in 2009 from Texas. In his younger years he worked in the timber industry. He then became a lifelong over-the-road trucker.

He was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting, fishing, camping and his dogs. He had rescued many Weimaraner dogs. Clint liked to read western books by author Louis L’Amour. He was a gun collector and a gunsmith.

Clint was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Hamilton; his brother, Clement Holmquist; his sister, Eileen Holmquist; and his stepdaughter, Dana Smith-Meunier.

Clint is survived by his wife, Cherie Holmquist; his father, Ernest Holmquist; his son, Clinton Jr., and May Holmquist; and granddaughters, Kaytlynn and Kyla Holmquist, all of Phoenix; his brothers, Steven Holmquist of Kalispell, Carl and Loretta Holmquist of Fowler, Colo., and Ernest Holmquist of Pueblo, Colo.; his sisters, Sandra and Howard Gipe of Kalispell, and Susan Kennedy of Goose Creek, S.C.; his stepson, Ben Smith, and grandson, Masen Smith of Waco, Texas; grandson, Andrew Smith and great-granddaughter, Wyndie Smith of Glendale, Ariz.; and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.

A memorial service was held on Friday, July 29, at Griffy Family Funeral Home in Fowler.
