Local runners set fast pace in Boogie to the Bank runs
COLUMBIA FALLS - All that was missing on Saturday were runners from Columbia Falls and Whitefish finishing first in the annual Boogie To The Bank 5k and 10k runs.
The rest of the valley was well represented at the finish line.
Troy Fraley, 16, of Kalispell was the overall winner in the 5k with a time of 15 minutes, 22.5 seconds.
Fraley averaged 4:57 per mile.
The top female finisher in that race was 14-year-old Makena Morley of Bigfork, 17:19.7.
Morley averaged 5:35 per mile.
Morley won this race last year with a time of 17:43.3
Over in the 10k, former Bigfork and University of Montana distance standout Brooke Andrus, 23, was the top female with a time of 37:59.1.
Her mile pace for the race was 6:08.
And David Nichelson, 32, of Winter Garden, Fla., was the overall 10k winner with a time of 30:33.5.
The top finish for a Columbia Falls runner was turned in by 18-year-old Derrick Williams. He finished third in the 5k with a time of 15:42.9.
For Whitefish, Ian Mallams, 21, was second in the 10k with a time of 32:34.5.
The 5k was the most popular race with 182 female finishers and 111 males.
The 10k had 55 female finishers and 37 males.
Runners enjoyed plenty of sunshine and warm temperatures.
Morley was the lone runner to defend her title.
