Shelby ousts Bigfork from state basketball

GREAT FALLS - Shelby pulled away from Bigfork with a 21-point third quarter in posting a 65-51 loser-out victory Saturday morning at the Class B state boys basketball tournament at Four Seasons Arena.

Shelby, up 30-26 at the half, went on top 51-38 with eight minutes to play.

Shelby (19-8) had three players in double-figure scoring - Chase White, 19, Chase Ballantyne, 18, and Matt Alford, 12.

Bigfork (19-9) was led by Christian Ker's 21 points.

Shelby, which has played in the state championship game the last three seasons, advanced to the consolation final against Florence.

Florence eliminated Whitehall 47-41 in Saturday's other loser-out contest.
