Local girls honored for court prowess
Four players from Northwestern A have been named to the Class A all-state girls basketball team.
Kayla DeWit, a 6-foot-2 center who averaged 20 points and 12 rebounds for Northwestern A regular-season and divisional-tournament champion Columbia Falls, headlines this year's selections. DeWit was the Northwestern A conference Most Valuable Player.
Joining DeWit on the all-state team from Northwestern A are: Libby's Jaime Gilden, a 5-10 wing who averaged 16.5 points per game and 8.28 rebounds, and Polson's Breanne Kelley, a 5-9 forward averaging 12.61 points and 6.44 rebounds, and Riley Kenney, a 5-10 forward/center averaging 13.83 points and 7.61 rebounds.
DeWit, Gilden and Kelley are seniors. Kenney is a junior.
All four also received all-conference first-team honors along with Hope Burlage, a sophomore, and Danielle Gilley, a senior, from Columbia Falls.
Columbia Falls and Libby both advanced to the state tournament.
