Three local basketball players named All-State
Two players from Glacier and one from Flathead picked up All-State honors for boys basketball.
Seniors Bryan Chery and Trey Griffith of Glacier and Flathead junior George Sherwood were named to the 13-man All-State team.
Chery and Griffith led the Wolfpack to the program's first Western AA conference title and a 14-6 record in the regular season. Chery was the team's top scorer on average with 12.5 points-per-game. Griffith averaged 7.5 ppg and 4.1 steals-per-game for Glacier, which advanced to the state tournament for the third year in a row.
Sherwood averaged 12.4 ppg and 6.7 rebounds-per-game during the regular season in which Flathead went 10-10 and advanced to state for the second year in a row and fourth time in eight seasons.
Flathead senior Joe Pistorese and Glacier sophomore Ryan Edwards were named second team All-Conference for the West. Pistorese averaged 12.8 ppg. He had a 28-point performance against Glacier which tied him with senior Ian Gillespie for a team-high this season. Edwards averaged 8.1 ppg and 6.2 rpg. He also scored a team-high 23 points in a game this season.
On the girls side, Flathead junior Tess Brenneman and Glacier freshman Cassidy Hashley each picked up second team All-Conference honors. Brenneman averaged roughly 8.8 ppg and 5.2 rpg for the Bravettes (8-13). Hashley averaged 10.3 ppg and 6.8 rpg for the Wolfpack (11-10).
Glacier senior Ashlee Waggener was named honorable mention.
Postseason honors are decided after coaches nominate players from their teams and then vote for their top 10 players. Coaches may not vote for their own players and only choose players from their conference.
