Found body report proved false

Flathead County Sheriff’s Office responded to First Avenue South in Martin City after a woman reported she had found part of a human body while digging in her garden. The report was deemed unfounded when deputies learned the woman was intoxicated and that there was indeed no evidence of a human body. The woman had initially claimed that she found a shoulder bone.

A group of about four youths were seen jumping on a train near the BNSF rail yard in Whitefish.

A truck driver and a deputy both reported that someone in the area of Sandy Hill Lane in Columbia Falls was directing a laser pointer in the eyes of passing motorists. A deputy spoke to a group of people in the area. The suspect was a 14-year-old boy.

Two bicycles were reported stolen at a home on Conrad Drive.

An iPod was stolen but later returned in a classroom of a school on Commerce Street in Bigfork.

A man on Stoner Creek Road in Somers accused his ex-girlfriend of breaking into a storage unit.

A woman on Conrad Drive asked for advice on how to remove her father, who isn’t paying rent, from her home.

Theft of mail was alleged on Helena Flats Road.

Criminal mischief was reported on Pheasant Drive, where a woman suspected her daughter had keyed her boyfriend’s car.

Several storage units on U.S. 2 East were reportedly burglarized.

Two neighbors were counseled over a property dispute on Twin Lakes Road in Whitefish.

A man was removed from a hotel on U.S. 2 East in Columbia Falls after an employee reported he was yelling and acting intoxicated.

Someone stole a snow blower from a yard on Birch Grove Road.

An 11-year-old boy was accused of trying to steal a bicycle on Shady Lane. A deputy spoke to the boy’s mother.

A bag containing a firearm and bullets was found near Montana 35 in Bigfork.

Deputies arrested a 45-year-old man after he allegedly violated a protection order by going to a woman’s home on Cayuse Lane.

Kalispell Police officers arrested an 18-year-old man for theft, criminal trespass to vehicles and minor in possession of alcohol after he and possibly another individual reportedly stole items from several vehicles in the area of Eighth Avenue East early Friday morning.

Medications were reported stolen at a home on U.S. 2 West.

Two people were cited and released for shoplifting at a business on Hutton Ranch Road after they allegedly attempted to steal about $50 in merchandise.

A man on Seventh Avenue West North reported receiving a suspicious package in the mail. The package, mailed from Alaska, had two vacuum-sealed bags with “8oz” written on them, as well as two candles.

An assault was reported at a bus stop on Sherwood Lane, where a boy said he was put in a choke hold, elbowed and beat up by a 16-year-old boy. His homework was also destroyed, he said.

Burglary was reported at a business on U.S. 93 South. Someone apparently used bolt cutters to access the building.

Suspicious activity was reported at a business on North Main Street after two men asked strange questions of an employee.

Officers were unable to find a woman who reportedly walked into a home on Windward Way to retrieve her phone. She began arguing with a woman who lives there and was angry about the late night visit.

A woman on Greendale Court said she saw two men stealing items from her vehicle.

An ATV was reported stolen on U.S. 93 South.

Gasoline was reportedly siphoned from vehicles parked near Third Avenue East.

A dog was quarantined after biting a child on Muskrat Drive.
