Streaking Lakers sweep

With four wins in two days, the Kalispell Lakers can say they had a nice weekend.

Matt McLean had eight strikeouts, Joe Pistorese knocked a 2-run home run and the Lakers battered Belgrade in two legion baseball games at Griffin Field on Sunday.

McLean mastered the Bandits in the second game of a doubleheader and Pistorese had his third homer of the season for Kalispell (8-3), which has won five straight.

The Lakers won the opener 11-4 thanks to big games from Nate Bengston, who had three RBI, and Louis Freudenburg and Kendrick Lee, who had two RBI each.

Lee had three hits in the opener, Sean O'Connell had two hits and Pistorese had a triple. Freudenburg had two hits.

The defense had another impressive outing, committing only three errors on the day.

In the nightcap, Dillon Matteson and Pistorese each went 2-for-3.

The Lakers head to Libby on Wednesday before hosting the annual Canadian Days Tournament starting on Friday at Griffin Field.
