Robert Stanley Black, 81

Robert Stanley Black passed away May 15, 2011.

Robert was born to Otis and Marie Black, April 5, 1930, in Colville, Wash.     

He married his high school sweetheart, Barbara Jean Phillips, in 1949.

Bob and Barbara raised four children in the Flathead Valley, then moved to the Washington coast and enjoyed many years of boating in the San Juans with family members, and many friends. In 1995 they moved back to Kalispell to be near their family.

Bob was an electrician and retired from BPA in 1992. He was a member of the IBEW and earned his 55-year member award. He was also in the Navy Reserves. 

Robert is survived by his four children, daughter, Linda Sager, and husband, Robert, of Ronan; son, Bob Black, and wife, Becky, of Kalispell; daughter, Diane Volkman, and husband, Victor, of Columbia Falls; and daughter, Karen Black, of Kalispell; 12 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandson; his brother, Lester Black, and wife, Anna, from Federal Way, Wash.; sister, Della Beller, and husband, Russell, from Coeur d’Alene, Idaho; and sister, Delores Peters, from Columbia Falls; sister-in-law, Phyllis Getchell, and husband, Scotty, from Pasco, Wash.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Bob’s strength of character and reliability will always be a treasured memory.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, May 19, at Buffalo Hill Funeral Home in Kalispell, officiated by Pastor Tom Gopp. A reception  will immediately follow. Viewing will be from 4 to 8 p.m., May 18, at Buffalo Hill Chapel.
