Lakers pull away from Loggers

LIBBY - Sean O'Connell hit a 3-run homer to left center in the sixth inning and added a 2-run shot to right center in the eighth as the Kalispell AA Lakers pulled away for a 14-4 American Legion baseball victory over the Libby A Loggers on Wednesday.

O'Connell, 2-for-4, finished the game with 5 RBI.

Libby (5-7 overall) closed to within two runs, 6-4, on Alex Cislo's solo home run to right field to lead off the bottom half of the fifth inning.

Kalispell scored eight runs in the final three innings.

Louis Freudenburg picked up the victory. He pitched the first five innings.

Cody Dopps had a strong offensive outing for Kalispell, going 3-for-5 with one RBI. Matt McLean, 2-for-5, had three RBI for the Lakers.

Tate Wilson had two of Libby's six hits in the contest.

Kalispell is back in action Friday and Saturday with its Canadian Days Tournament. The Lakers (9-3) play Sherwood Park on Friday at 8 p.m.

Libby hosts Mission Valley B Mariners on Saturday for a nonconferemce doubleheader beginning at 5:05 p.m.
