Lakers offense heats up against Mariners
POLSON - Joe Pistorese was 5-for-6 on the day with five doubles and four RBI as the Kalispell Lakers defeated host Mission Valley in a doubleheader on Sunday.
Scores were 17-7 and 8-5.
All the Lakers got in on the offensive action as Kalispell had 13 hits in the first game and eight in the second.
Cody Dopps was 3-for-7 with two home runs and five RBI and Michael O'Connell was 4-for-7 with a home run, a double and five RBI.
The Lakers got down
"We hit the ball very well," said Lakers coach Ryan Malmin.
"We still need to eliminate the free passes. We had 13 today," he said of Kalispell's pitching.
"And we need to clean things up defensively."
The Lakers (15-4) play host at 6 p.m. Thursday to the Glacier Twins.

MISSOULA - Carl Talsma was 2-for-2 with a triple, Jim Jumper added a triple and Kyler Blades a double, but it wasn't enough on Sunday for the Glacier Twins AA as they fell 11-1 to the Missoula Mavs at the Memorial Day Tournament in Missoula.
Missoula scored five runs in the second and third innings.
