Charles 'Chuck' Franklin Roach, 86

Charles “Chuck” Franklin Roach, 86, of Kalispell, died on Friday, Oct. 28, 2011, at his home.

Born July 7, 1925, in Fort Wayne, Ind., he was the son of Theopolis and Clara (Hamilton) Roach. He lived and was educated in Fort Wayne until his call to duty in World War II. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy on the USS Saratoga.

He married F. Nadine Parker on April 2, 1948, in Fort Wayne, and was proud of making 63 years of marriage and raising five children.

Chuck worked at Magnavox and private security prior to his retirement at age 51, due to health. 

In 1984, he and his wife moved to Columbia Falls, and then to Kalispell in 1986. He became an active member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles No. 234 and the American Legion Post No. 137. He loved bowling and was a member of the senior bowling league.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Theopolis and Clara Roach; and brothers, Otto Roach and Joseph Roach.

Surviving are his wife, Nadine Roach, of Kalispell; son, Barry, and Ann Roach, of Fort Wayne; son, Kerry Patrick Roach, of Fort Wayne; son, Charles F. Roach Jr., of Kalispell; daughter, Trina, and Michael Caldwell, of Fairbanks, Alaska; and daughter, Rita Roach, of Kalispell; seven grandchildren, Brian and Karen Roach of Angola, Ind., Erik and Jody of Fort Wayne, Christopher and Kristi of Angola, Valerie and Russell McGregor of Fort Wayne, Emily and Jason Zigler of Fort Wayne, Hayley and Dan Storie of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Corrie Lanier of Fairbanks; 15 great-grandchildren; and sisters, Margaret and Don Shipman of Delta, Ohio, Margie and Ken Mohler of Talladega, Ala., and Irene and Ed Weaver of Menominee, Mich. 

The family wishes to thank the nursing and aid staff at Kalispell Regional Medical Center and Frontier Hospice for the wonderful care Charles received.

Cremation has taken place, and a memorial service and celebration of life will be held 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 4, at the Eagles Lodge in Kalispell. A memorial service and burial will also take place at a later date in Fort Wayne, to grant his wish for his final resting place, and when more family members and friends will be able to attend.
