Today is election day for voters in Kalispell, Columbia Falls, Whitefish and Bigfork.

For all but Columbia Falls, the election is a mail-only affair.

There are five candidates running for three seats on the Columbia Falls City Council.

Polls are open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. at Columbia Falls City Hall.

Ballots in the mail-only elections for Kalispell, Whitefish and Bigfork have to be returned to the Flathead County Election Department by 8 p.m. today.

Kalispell has contested races in three of the four ward elections for City Council.

Whitefish has six candidates competing for three seats on the City Council.

Whitefish voters also are picking a new mayor and deciding whether to repeal a 2010 city/county agreement concerning the “doughnut” planning area.

Bigfork voters have a choice for representatives on the community’s water and sewer district board.
