Joel Lewis Coyle, 57

Joel Lewis Coyle, 57, of Kalispell, died tragically in an auto accident on Friday, Nov. 4, 2011, in Kalispell.

Joel was born on Aug. 16, 1954, in Tulsa, Okla., to Rosemary (Lewis) and George Coyle. He was the fourth of five children. The family moved to Denver shortly after he was born.

Joel worked all his life in the construction/land development industry. He participated in the building of the Denver International Airport. Bridges, culverts and roads were his favorite projects. He was always very proud of the work he did for Dell Webb in Las Vegas building the Sun City Retirement Community. Another accomplishment was the supervision of building a water treatment facility in Gunnison, Colo. His final working days were spent doing land development for Lowry Redevelopment Authority in Denver converting Lowry AFB into a residential and business community. Joel was forced to retire early due to medical problems.

In 1994 he met Linda, his life companion and wife for 17 years. They lived in Denver until moving to the Flathead Valley in 2004. Joel enjoyed fishing, hunting pheasants, gardening, NASCAR and football. However; the greatest joy in his life was spending time with his grandchildren.

Joel was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Kristin; his father, George; and grandson, Dominic.

Joel is survived by his wife, Linda; his son, Luke and wife, Liz, of Kalispell; daughter, Elizabeth Hults and husband, Ronnie, of Centennial, Colo.; son, Joshua Coyle of Denver; stepson, Jeffrey Harmsen of Denver; stepson, Todd Harmsen and wife, Shelley, of Rockford , Ill.; mother, Rosemary, and stepfather, John Einspanjer, of Fort Madison, Iowa; sister, Linda Nichols of Monterey, Calif.; brother, George Coyle and wife, Jan, of Bend, Ore.; brother, Bill Coyle and wife, Joyce, of Bixby, Okla.; brother, Dan Coyle and wife, Bonnie, of Ankeny, Iowa. His grandchildren include Shannon and Quincy Coyle, Jordan Quattromani, Angelique, Genevieve, Vanessa and Dominique Hults, Samantha Robertson, and Skylar, Brandon, Madison and Briley Harmsen. He was also the proud uncle of several nephews and nieces.

A private family memorial service will be held at a future date.
