Errant shot hits pickup passenger

Deputies with the Flathead County Sheriff’s Office responded to an accidental shooting Wednesday night.

Shortly after 9 p.m., several men were traveling home east of the Hungry Horse Reservoir when a rifle sitting muzzle-up in the pickup truck next to the front-seat passenger went off while they drove along a bumpy stretch of the road.

The rifle round struck the 28-year-old passenger in the shoulder.

Flathead County Undersheriff Jordan White said there were no suspicious issues related to the incident and the man was transported to Kalispell Regional Medical Center.

It was reported that a 13-year-old girl ran away from her home on Willow Glen Drive in Kalispell, stealing her family’s minivan after also taking money.

It is believed she had another girl with her and may have been heading for Missoula and then to California. The caller said the girl is a good driver and knows how to drive semis.

A man was arrested after allegedly assaulting the caller’s daughter. He was transported to the Flathead County Detention Center.

A 17-year-old boy was arrested after threatening to throw a chair at his mother and refusing to let her leave their home on Hawthorn Avenue in Kalispell.

An unlocked 1999 Ford truck with the keys hidden inside it was reported stolen from U.S. 2 West in Columbia Falls.

A wallet and two laptops were reported stolen from an unlocked vehicle on Battle Ridge Drive in Kalispell. The owner later found the items, along with other computers and several other items, while taking a walk the following morning.

A wallet and two credit cards were reported stolen from an unlocked vehicle on Spruce Drive in Evergreen.

A set of keys and pair of sunglasses were reported stolen from an unlocked vehicle on Parklane Drive in Evergreen.

A theft was reported at a storage building on Flathead Drive in Evergreen.

The Whitefish Police Department received a report of sexual assault on Spokane Avenue.

A fight was reported on Central Avenue.

Officers with the Polson Police Department made an arrest after investigating a reported violation of a temporary restraining order.
