A Kalispell man was sentenced to 5 1/2 years in prison Friday morning after pleading guilty to receipt and possession of child pornography.

Kelly Ray Burris, 42, also was sentenced to 10 years of supervised release and charged a special assessment of $100.

The sentences were handed down in U.S. District Court in Missoula.

According to a press release from the U.S. Department of Justice, Burris’ then-wife reported to the Flathead County Sheriff’s Office in March 2010 that she had found child pornography on a computer they both used. With her permission, law enforcement located images on the computer as well as on a CD she provided them.

Two computers and the CD were seized. Additional CDs also were provided to law enforcement the following day. Child pornography was found on one of the computers and on six CDs. The second computer was found to have been used to browse for the material online and view some of the images on the CD.

The investigation was conducted by the Montana Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, the Flathead County Sheriff’s Office, and the Montana Division of Criminal Investigation.
