Thomas leads Libby to cross country win

Libby boys and Fernie Academy (British Columbia) girls won team titles at the Eureka Invitational Cross Country Tri-Meet at Indian Springs Ranch Golf Course Tuesday afternoon.

Jacob Thomas led the way for Libby, winning the boys race by more than a minute with a time of 17:17. Three Libby runners placed in the top five to earn the team victory.

Jon Weaver of Eureka pulled away from Colton Crismore of Libby in the last half-mile to cross the finish line in second place with a time of 18:30.

Alexandra Bartmess of Eureka led from start to finish to win the girls race in 21:55. Fernie Academy, led by second-place Madalon Burnett, was the only girls team with enough entries to get a team score.

Eureka finished second in the boys division and Fernie Academy placed third.
