Man arrested for slicing open packages

Someone on U.S. 93 called the Kalispell Police Department on Monday morning to report a white male wearing a white and red ball cap turned backward who was walking through the store with a large knife and cutting open packages and CDs. Several officers responded and an arrest was reportedly made after the suspect was seen walking out of another nearby store.

Someone reportedly broke into the ATM inside a building on U.S. 2. A caller who first reported the incident at about 7 a.m. later advised that he found some tools possibly used in the burglary. The evidence was collected.

A front desk clerk on U.S. 93 reported a man roaming the halls cursing and yelling and talking to himself at about 3:30 a.m. Monday.

Early Monday morning, a woman believed to be missing since 5 p.m. Sunday returned home. She had apparently been out gambling and nothing was wrong with her.

Sunday evening, a caller on Ninth Avenue West reported a window broken out of a rental and asked to talk to police about it.

Sunday afternoon, a caller advised that two vehicles - one black, one white - threw a bunch of litter out onto a parking lot on First Avenue East North.

A burglary was reported on Parkway Drive.

At about 2:10 p.m. Sunday, a "very intoxicated" caller on Woodland Avenue called 911 twice trying to file charges against the officers that were at his house the night before. A verbal disturbance was later reported at the residence.


Late Sunday, the Polson Police Department made an arrest for possession of dangerous drugs during a traffic stop on U.S. 93.


Earlier Sunday afternoon, deputies with the Lake County Sheriff's Office arrested someone for partner family member assault after responding to a home on Mission Creek Road.


A caller on Columbia Avenue reported criminal mischief to the Whitefish Police Department on Sunday morning.

Police responded to a physical disturbance reported on Iowa Avenue shortly after noon.

Callers reported disorderly conduct on Central Avenue at about 6 p.m. and on Iowa Avenue at about 7:30 p.m.
