Flathead runners on top

Flathead runners topped the boys and girls divisions as the Braves and Bravettes won both team titles at the Glacier Invitational cross country meet at Kidsports Complex on Thursday.

Zach Perrin took first for the boys with a time of 15:57. Glacier's Troy Fraley placed second, 16:14.

The Braves had a eight runners in the top 10 with Hunter Schutt, 16:15, finishing just one second behind Fraley to take third.

Flathead earned the team title with 19 points. Glacier placed second with 47.

The Bravettes swept the top four spots in the girls division as Paige Bouma grabbed a decisive win with a time of 18:56

She was 33 seconds faster than her teammate and second place finisher Bailey Hughes. Mckenzie Bouma, 20:11, placed third and Heather Bodenhamer, 20:59, came in fourth.

Glacier's top runner was Tyryn Jacobs, who placed fifth with a time of 21:00.

Flathead won the division with a team total of 17 points. Glacier placed second with 41 and Cut Bank rounded out the top three with 76.

Up next for Flathead and Glacier is the Class AA state cross country meet in Missoula on Oct. 22.
