Virginia Averill, 89

| October 18, 2011 7:00 PM

Virginia Averill passed away peacefully at her home on Oct. 15, 2011.

“Ginny” was born Virginia Monica Dresen on April 24, 1922, in Lehigh. Her early years were spent in the Windham, Stanford and Lewistown areas with her three siblings, sister Charlotte, and brothers Richard and Lawrence.

She married J.R. “Bob” Clark and they moved to Missoula in 1946.

Ginny made friends easily as her smile was quick and her gracious hospitality was genuine.

Ginny married Les Averill in 1970 and helped him operate the Flathead Lake Lodge in Bigfork. There, her love of life and people flourished. Now with eight sons, and guests from all over the country, she was in her element. She made everyone feel welcome and at ease. Her huge heart touched many, and all who knew Ginny are better for it.

Ginny was preceded in death by Les, son Jim, and her sister and brothers.

She leaves behind sons, Kent, Dan, Darv, Marcus, Doug, Dalvin and Brad, as well as Jessica, her care giver (the daughter she never had). She will also be missed by 22 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.

A memorial service and reception will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 5, at Flathead Lake Lodge in Bigfork.

Johnson-Gloschat Funeral Home and Crematory is caring for Virginia's family.
