Getting to the Pearl Harbor Day 70th Anniversary Commemoration won’t be easy for four band members and their equipment, but Marshall Catch is determined to get to Hawaii — even if it means sleeping in tents on the beach for a few nights or forgoing bringing their own instruments and borrowing a guitar when they get to Honolulu.

“We’re going no matter what,” drummer Jared Denney said.

Bands invited to play at the event are expected to find their own way there, he added.

“Nobody is compensated. People show up because it’s the right thing to do,” he said.

There are several ways to help the band get to Pearl Harbor:

n Attend a fundraising concert. The band will perform at 7 p.m. Saturday at the Kalispell Elks Lodge, 1820 U.S. 93 S. Admission is free; donations will be accepted.

Marshall Catch also is playing at a private fundraiser concert Sunday at a Bigfork residence. Limited seating is available; call Luke Lautaret at 890-0242 for additional information.

n Bid on auction items. The band has several auction items up for bid, including drumsticks from Sex Pistols drummer Paul Cook; a signed guitar from Def Leppard guitarist Phil Collen; an autographed CD by Manraze, a supergroup featuring Cook, Collen and Simon Laffy of early ’80s glam band Girl; and a “Schindler’s List” movie poster signed by Bigfork resident Jerry Molen, who produced the Academy Award-winning film. Call Lautaret for details.

n Donate online via PayPal. A link is set up on the band’s website, www.marshallcatch.com. Suggestions and connections for travel to or lodging in Hawaii would also be welcome.
