Man arrested after shooting incident

A Columbia Falls man faces a series of charges after he was arrested following an alleged shooting incident Tuesday night.

Flathead County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrested Joby Bealmer, 34, after responding to a report of shots fired at his Columbia Falls home.

Bealmer was arrested on initial misdemeanor charges of disorderly conduct, resisting arrest and possession of dangerous drugs as well as driving under the influence. He also faces felony charges of threats in official or political manners and intimidation by coercion.

Bealmer is the president of the Montana Crew of Brother Speed, a Portland, Ore.-based motorcycle gang.

Deputies initially responded to the home on 13th Street East North after receiving multiple calls saying shots had been fired in the area and a man had been screaming. One caller reported hearing a man yell “You’re going to die” before the shooting began.

According to Flathead County Sheriff Chuck Curry, deputies contacted Bealmer as he was driving out of the area. He said he had come home and thought he saw a light go off in his house and his back door open.

He then went to his truck, got a gun and started shooting into his backyard.

“He was relatively uncooperative,” Curry said. “They eventually wound up taking him into custody after a little bit of a struggle.”

Bealmer was booked into the Flathead County Detention Center.

According to Brother Speed’s website, the club has chapters in Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Utah and Montana.

The club’s patch consists of a winged skull wearing goggles and a scarf.
