Stillwater Christian volleyball team seeks three-peat

Looking for the three-peat.

The Stillwater Christian Cougars — Montana Christian

Athletic Association state volleyball champions in 2009 and 2010 —

are hoping for a little more magic at this weekend’s tournament at

Laurel Middle School.

The tournament begins today and ends Saturday.

Stillwater opens at 2:30 p.m. today against Rimrock

Christian School of Billings — No. 4 from the East. 

The Flathead Valley Home School Crusaders, No. 3 from

the West, open at 1 p.m. today agaisnt East No. 2 Great Falls Home

School.

The Cougars (27-1) have lost only three matches in

the past three seasons. They were 25-2 in 2009, 30-0 a year ago and

27-1 this season. 

Their one loss this season was Oct. 8 at Eureka.

They are led offensively by junior outside hitter

Jordan Danz (346 kills), senior middle blocker Kathrynn Gerard (145

kills) and senior middle blocker Katie Harrel (144 kills).

Danz also leads Stillwater in passing percentage (88

percent), digs (224) and serves (94 percent in with 76 aces). She’s

second on the blocks list with 47.

She’s surrounded by a capable group, however. In

addition to her kills, Gerard leads the team in blocks with 53.

Freshman Sarah Paolini has 137 kills, 43 aces, an 80

percent passing percentage, 34 blocks and 147 digs; junior setter

Morgan Paolini has 62 service aces, 105 digs, 703 set assists and

24 blocks. 

Harrel has served 72 aces, has an 88 percent passing

percentage, has 196 digs and 30 blocks this season.
