Dopps ties Bigfork's game mark with 5 TDs in win over Eureka

EUREKA - Cody Dopps tied Bigfork's single-game touchdown record by scoring five times Friday night as the Vikings defeated Eureka 49-7 in a District 7B football matchup.

Dopps scored on runs of 24, 75, 5 and 38 yards. He also had a 50-yard touchdown reception from Colter Mahlum.

Dopps had 21 carries on the night for 271 yards.

Dopps shares the school mark with Travis Knoll.

"Cody had an unbelievable night, a great night," Bigfork coach Todd Emslie said.

"It was a great football game. We feel good about going into the playoffs right now."

Bigfork will host a first-round playoff game next Saturday.

Bigfork finished with 128 yards passing and 332 rushing.

Mahlum was 5 of 10 passing for 87 yards.

The Vikings (7-1 overall, 4-0 league) held Eureka to 43 yards rushing, but gave up 172 yards passing.

Eureka (5-3, 3-1) scored first on a 5-yard run by Chris Ibach.

Eureka will have a road playoff game next Saturday.

FRENCHTOWN - Whitefish used a pair of third-quarter touchdowns to pull away for an Northwestern A victory over league newcomer Frenchtown.

Whitefish (5-2, 2-2) advances to the Class A playoffs, which begin next Saturday. The Bulldogs will play at Stevensville.

"A playoff game for both of us was on the line," Whitefish coach Chad Ross said.

"We came out and scored 13 in the third quarter like we wanted to."

Ross said it was an ugly win, but one of character.

Shane Marcial scored both touchdowns for WHS. He had nine carries on the night for 46 yards.

Chris Forrest was 7 of 16 passing for 155 yards and Connor Donahue was 8 of 18 for 85 yards and a touchdown.

Whitefish, which has won its final three games, is making its first postseason appearance in three years.

LIBBY - A big night by Austin Barth wasn't quite enough to lift Columbia Falls.

The senior quarterback was 15 of 37 passing for 310 yards and two touchdowns, but Colby Rybar rushed for 88 yards and three touchdowns to carry Libby to the Northwestern A win.

Rybar scored on runs of 3, 2 and 5 yards.

Nic Robertson also returned an interception 33 yards for a score and Jared Winslow ripped off a 54-yard touchdown run.

Libby (5-4, 3-1) earned the No. 2 seed for the playoffs from Northwestern A.

Josiah Osborne had touchdown receptions of 25 and 46 yards for Columbia Falls (0-4, 2-6). Zach Darling scored on touchdown runs of 4 and 34 yards.
