A public meeting on a proposed highway roundabout is 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 26 at the Creston School.

Officials from the Montana Department of Transportation will brief the audience on a plan to reconstruct the junction of Montana highways 35 and 206, about 3 miles northwest of Creston, with a roundabout.

Currently a T-intersection is in place. But highway department officials say the number of accidents at the intersection has prompted the need to change the intersection.

According to Paul Grant of the transportation department, an engineering analysis determined a roundabout “would enhance the safety and efficiency of the intersection.”

Construction tentatively is slated for 2013.

People may comment verbally at the Oct. 26 meeting, submit written comments at that time, mail comments to Shane Stack at the Missoula MDT district office, P.O. Box 7039, Missoula 59807-7039 or submit comments online at www.mdt.mt.gov/mdt/comment_form.shtml.

Comments should include the project number CN7183. Comments are due by Nov. 18.
