John W. Gordon, 92

John W. Gordon, 92, of Lewistown, and formerly of Kalispell, died Tuesday morning, Oct. 18, 2011, of natural causes at Valle Vista Manor.

He was born June 25, 1919, to parents Alex and Petra (Berqoust) Gordon in Moore. He received his education in Moore.

On July 27, 1942, John was united in marriage to Ann Jonas; they later divorced. John worked many years as a bricklayer for Frank Valach. He later moved to Kalispell, where he worked various jobs. In 2010 he returned to Lewistown, where he lived until the time of his death.

John loved to socialize and was a great storyteller. With a John Wayne voice, he made the stories believable, whether true or not.                               

He is survived by one daughter, Carol, and Don Waite, of Lewistown; four sons, John of Great Falls, James and Chris of Roundup, Jerome and Diane of Miles City, and Jerrold and Kathy of Billings; longtime companion, Phyllis Leonard, of Kalispell; 19 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Larry; and two sisters.

No services will be held for John W. Gordon. Cremation has taken place. Cloyd Funeral Home and Cremation Service is assisting the family with arrangements.
