Glacier’s tennis teams used a matchup with Bigfork to gain experience for the younger players and toy with their lineups at the courts at Flathead Valley Community College Monday afternoon.

The Wolfpack boys beat Bigfork, which had just two players, 2-1, while the Wolfpack girls rolled to a 7-0 victory.

“(Bigfork) didn’t have a lot of kids to work with,” Glacier coach Josh Munro said.

“It was good for us. While we played them, we played a lot of matchups and challenge stuff that we wanted to do (on the other courts). It was a great day for us to look at a lot of combinations on the side while the matches were being played.”

Bigfork was missing many of its players because of spring break.

Munro said he “saw some good stuff from our younger players,” like Keckeley Habel and Kayla Harwood. Both were in singles action.

“It was good to get them in the lineup a little bit more than they have been,” he said.

Munro said he “saw a lot of great things” from the boys as well.

“We gained a lot today in terms of experience and ideas going forward.”

Up next for Glacier is the crosstown matchup today at 3 p.m. at FVCC. Now in its fifth year, the Wolfpack boys lead the series 5-1, while the girls are 6-0.

The Wolfpack boys have won the last five.

Glacier and Flathead will meet again on May 1.

The schools schedule two crosstown matches each season, but a few in the past have been canceled because of the weather and never rescheduled.
