Taser subdues naked suspect

A Whitefish man gave police a peep at his privates before being shocked into submission Tuesday evening.

When officers stopped a vehicle driven by Matthew Lamb, 26— wanted on a $50,000 warrant out of Cascade County for a strong-arm robbery — he apparently was not in the mood to comply with their orders.

According to Whitefish Police Chief Bill Dial, officers took Sidney Aimsback, 24, Vaughn, out of the vehicle at gunpoint without incident, but when they tried to remove Lamb, he resisted in a very unusual way.

When Lamb got out, officers ordered him to get on the ground. Instead, he took off all his clothes and mooned the officers before turning around, grabbing his genitals and shaking them. Dial said Lamb continued to scream and told police, “Go ahead and shoot me.”

The officers obliged his request, but not with their service weapons. Instead, one of them shot the naked Lamb with a Taser, allowing them to take him into custody.

Officers initially had spotted Lamb near Grouse Mountain Lodge, but he saw them as well and jumped into a vehicle to drive away.

He eventually was stopped when officers pulled in front of him on Murray Avenue near the Whitefish Lake Golf Club.

Lamb and Aimsback are both wanted for the robbery, in which they allegedly took several belongings from a man’s home and car. Dial said officers recovered a safe that had been cracked, some rolled coins and a little bit of cash, along with the vehicle.

“We also recovered some jeans that had blood on them, probably from the robbery,” Dial said.

Each faces felony charges of robbery and theft out of Cascade County and have been preliminarily charged with obstructing justice and resisting arrest, both misdemeanors, for Tuesday’s incident.

Dial said his department is familiar with Lamb.

“He’s got a long history — drugs, a lot of violence, a lot of assault,” Dial said. “We’ve known him ever since he was in high school.”
