Glacier, Flathead test Missoula schools in tennis duals

MISSOULA — Glacier’s boys and girls both went 2-1 versus the three Missoula schools on Saturday in dual tennis action.

“Really happy with the effort level today, the kids played hard,” Glacier coach Josh Munro said.

“Ingrid Ericksen and Molly Wright had a great comeback win against Hellgate, a tie-break win. Danny Roe and Karl Hellwig finished strong.”

Glacier suffered a couple injuries during play, but Munro was impressed with those who filled in.

“Evan Froystad, Ryan Porch, Miranda Meyer and Izaak Castren really stepped up,” he said.

“They were willing to play out of position ... gave solid efforts, great play.”

Munro said Hunter Blalack, in No. 1 singles, played Hellgate’s Alex Braun “tough. He gave him a real solid match. He had a lot of opportunities and learned a lot.”

Flathead also played three duals, with the high note a 5-2 win over Missoula Big Sky in girls action.

“We won every doubles match,” Flathead coach Jeff Anderson said in that dual.

“We put together a No. 2 girls doubles team with Anna Milheim and Alexandra Moe. They had a great win against Sentinel, and played very, very well against a tough Hellgate team.”

Moe also picked up a tie-breaker win against Big Sky in singles.

“Tucker Moe, played well,” Anderson said for the boys.

“We moved him to No. 2 singles against Big Sky. He dominated in that win and looked really good.”

Up next for both schools is the Flathead Invitational on Saturday.
